• The establishment of ITCB by the computer center is in the line with the the Sokoine University of Agriculture charter (2007) which, among other things, emphasizes on promoting income generation and fund raising activities at the university.
  • Furthermore, SUA has witnessed a high rate of ICT staff turnover since establishment of the Computer Center. The high rate of staff turnover is harmful to our Center since experienced ICT staff with the required skills leave for other institution. It has been noted that due to less extra activities for income generation, ICT staff leave SUA to join other government or private institutions where they often receive salaries comparable to what they are receive at SUA. It is envisaged that by establishing the ITCB, the productive activities of ICT staff will not only contribute to increased income of the university but also will improve their own incomes there by lessening their likelihood of resigning from SUA.
  • More importantly, a number of ICT projects that welcome for bidders can carried by the Computer Center. However due to lack of legal status to bid, SUA misses a lot of opportunities which would have contribute to the income of the University.
  • Once the ITCB gets registration, it is anticipated that the Bureau will obtain a number of consultancy jobs through which a substantial income will be generated.
